GAVE is a government programme that supports the development and introduction of climate-neutral fuels in the Dutch transport sector. The programme's most important task is to support the implementation of the European Renewable Energy Directive into Dutch national legislation with respect to biofuels. This EU Directive states that, by the year 2020, 10% of the energy used in the transport sector must be derived from renewable energy.

German biodiesel industry working at 50% capacity
Date published: Feb 1, 2010
Throughout 2010 the German biodiesel industry is expected to work at only 50% of the available capacity. The total annual capacity amounts to 4.8 million tons, while in 2008 and 2009, only 2.7 and 2.5 millions tons respectively were actually produced. The association representing the German biofuel industry (VBO), via its spokesperson Elmar Baumann, says it does not expect the situation to improve in 2010.
