Agentschap NL > GAVE
GAVE is a government programme that supports the development and introduction of climate-neutral fuels in the Dutch transport sector. The programme's most important task is to support the implementation of the European Renewable Energy Directive into Dutch national legislation with respect to biofuels. This EU Directive states that, by the year 2020, 10% of the energy used in the transport sector must be derived from renewable energy.

Date published: Feb 1, 2010
The first ambulance in the Netherlands to run on biogas will start operations from Friday onwards in Drachten and the surrounding areas. Kijlstra Ambulancegroep Fryslân is responsible for this premiere event. Kijlstra is undertaking extensive tests with this vehicle, which is why it will be driven along planned routes around Drachten for the next few months. The biogas ambulance will not be used for emergency cases until all tests are completed.
