Agentschap NL > GAVE
GAVE is a government programme that supports the development and introduction of climate-neutral fuels in the Dutch transport sector. The programme's most important task is to support the implementation of the European Renewable Energy Directive into Dutch national legislation with respect to biofuels. This EU Directive states that, by the year 2020, 10% of the energy used in the transport sector must be derived from renewable energy.

Denmark: 2nd-generation biofuel plant opens
Date published: Dec 3, 2009
A test plant to produce 2nd-generation bioethanol is being opened in Kalundborg. The plant will process 30,000 tons of straw each year into 5.4 million litres of ethanol, 13,000 tons of biopellets and 10,500 tons of melasses.
Inbicon, part of the Danish energy company Dong Energy, has invested around 54 million euro in the process and the new test plant. The first year's production has already been sold to Statoil, which will blend the ethanol with conventional petrol for the Danish market.

The initiators have done everything in their power to ensure that this plant is started up before the Climate Summit in Copenhagen - and they've succeeded!
